#185-365 Minimalism

It may not seem obvious on the theme, (but if I have a trademark - That's It) but anyone who has spent countless hours pondering the smoothness and total lack of effort that these masterpieces of natures Aeronautical Engineering seem to display, will agree that minimalism is the word to describe them flying in either light wafting breezes or even strong winds.

The time they amaze me the most is when I am travelling across the Hornibrook Bridge to and from darts being able to seemingly keep up with me (At 60 KPH) without once even flapping those enormous wings. At night it is even more pronounced when they sweep in front of the windscreen on their way to alight on the lampposts for the night, they just seem to be pushed along by the air surrounding the car. Minimal Effort.

Beautiful! (See, I can be minimalistic too - at least once a year when i write or talk ;o) )

Well, it must take maximum effort just to hold their heads in position so they don't fall beak down!

Nice shot, Ron...

Wonderful capture, Ron! I guess I've never watched pelicans enough to comment on the minimalism of their flight. I'll have to pay more attention next time I'm by the sea.

This is really a must enlarge shot. It is absolutely fabulous!! When you enlarge it you get the feeling that you are floating along with them. This is a winner Ron!!

This is a gorgeous shot, Ron. The bird is razor sharp and there is a great horizon in the bokeh. Well done.

What a great shot! Love the contrast of colors, the blue water, the fuzzy shoreline, all which makes the black and white of the pelican simply pop! Wonderful detail. Enlarge and frame it.

Wow, Ron! Great shot to catch the wingspan that way! Looks like an enormous pelican!!

Ahhh - I see you've captured a shot of another one of our minions winging it's way back to Tammy with a report. Nice capture with those outstretch wings.
