#142-365 Haphazard

Don't know why I didn't post on the 10th but this is the make up post I guess that makes me Haphazard, but after seeing the Pelican land on the water - so smoothly (As depicted in my Nails Post), I found this attempt to land among the rocks of the breakwater to be Haphazard indeed, still love the shot too.

I thought I had replied to this one earlier, but guess not.

From what little I know about Pelicans, they are very clumsy when landing on anything except water, and even there from what little I've observed them. So these rocks would be a "given" for a haphazard landing. Great shot. The bokeh composition of the water and city in the background is nice too. Great colors.

Well he seemed to manage anyway, would not like to land on those rocks....
Great shot anyway, wish we had some of those (pelicans I mean)in Sweden, nice photo-objects.However I think I got some from Hayesvill Sanctuary somewhere....

Strange they can be so clumsy when it comes to landing on something else than water...

Look at that guy's wing span WOW!! I would love to see you come to a smoother landing in rocks, anyone who can land safely is a smooth lander in my book! :)

Did he make it? Seems like when his feet hit, he would go a-tumbling...

Hi Ron,
It's a gorgeous shot! Love the span of his wings. It's even better close up. Have a great day!

I don't know about "haphazard" but it is a beautiful shot of the pelican. I like that you got him with his wings spanned out.

Around here we have Brown Pelicans most of the time with some White Pelicans during migration. Haven't seen one with this coloration. But, right you are, the Brown ones are especially awkward on landing. Nice catch!

Wonderful shot of an impressive bird, the wings in this and the above are so amazing. I wonder just where their center of gravity is...
