#270-365 Seasonal

The Show circuit has moved out of the South Eastern Region of Queensland and headed for parts unknown (Except to them) this must be the peak season for organizations like the Redcliffe Showground Trust, because these seasonal workers not only avail themselves of the Ground's facilities as they are manning/operating the show rides and other attractions, but is used as a good base of operations as they prepare to set up at the many shows that spring up in the area around this time, culminating in the "Ekka" the Royal Queensland Show, originally called the Brisbane Exhibition, Hence "Ekka" we're Aussie don't ya know.

This shot (taken just after the Ekka had finished) shows a couple of the Carney People servicing one of the many rides that feature at these shows, a very important activity as peoples lives and safety are at stake. This is just business as usual for these folk, but I can't help but wonder how we would cope with an existence that is so reliant on the vagaries of such a seasonal way of life.

I know I for one would hate this job, can you imagine putting up with the rude people they probably have to put up with?? Maybe you should stay home next year....LOL!! Another wonderful shot, Ron, my friend! :)

What a great shot! You're right, having people's lives in your hands is a huge responsibility & it takes a special person to do it. When we were kids things like that never occurred to us!(thank goodness) : )

I really like the perspective on this shot, Ron - and your take on the theme.
