#322-365 The Staff of Life

Saw this theme posted the other day and I thought, hey I took a Bread shot the day I took the Shopping shot with that Little Girl and her Cookie Shopping List.

I liked the variety of breads displayed here, in a small franchise bakery, which was being manned by a brand new trainee manager, who pondered long and hard my request to take a photograph, but to her credit made a decision without guidance. She maintained control by saying "Just One Though!" I love her courage and confidence.

I hope you appreciate mine, as this was a one time shot, and I am pretty happy with it, but would love critiques as I want to learn what ever is on offer.

Oh, I am soooooo envious! That is one thing that I've not been able to find down here in these small towns - a good bakery. I love bread. Even make it myself. That is about the only way I'll get a good loaf of bread down here in these small towns in Arkansas. What is on the shelf isn't worth buying to take home. If I had my way, I'd have 4 or 5 different good loaves frozen so I could use them at my leisure. I can almost taste your bread it is such a clear and perfect photo!

Ron, that's a great interpretation on the theme! I need to take a little inspiration from you and some of the other more courageous bloggers--I often pass on a shot rather than step forward and ask permission to shoot in a store.

Its a lovely image, Ron, and perfect for the theme. I wish I had a bakery like that close by to choose my breads from.

I love the warm tones of the bread, but to me your white balance appears off so that you have no whites at all except for some blown highlights. I have to say though that I find it really hard to evaluate your photos with the image size you upload. The thumbnail is too small, of course, but the clickable size is huge and has to be scrolled around to see (a lot on my laptop and even a bit on my 22 inch screen).

Ron, your stories are always so entertaining. I can just picture you badgering the poor girl to let you take your photo! Nice warm photo - very yummy! Only critique I might offer would be that I might have cropped in a bit more on the top and right to eliminate the distraction of the surrounding room. I'd have to play with that a bit - couldn't decide if the snippets of room gave the racks of bread a sense of space or not but a bit tighter crop on just the bread racks might focus on the subject instead of the environment. All in all, it was worth badgering the lass for the shot.

Clever, clever, clever! What a great shot! What time did you have to get up to get it? LOL

Your "one shot allowance" proved to be a winner. Great angle of that delicious-looking bread.

Gosh, Ron. I wish I were experienced enough to give you a critique! But, I want you to know that I always take your comments seriously (!!!!) so I took your image and cropped it closer at the top (to get rid of the light fixture) and closer on the right (to remove that equipment at the end of the rack and liked the result. Try it and see if it makes a difference to you.

PS - all that bread looks yum!

I love the shot the textures on the bread are clear I might have tightened the crop up a little more on the left side but for a one time deal great job

You found a bakery that didn't have everything wrapped in shiny bags, so you got interesting colors and shapes of bread. Nice angle, inviting one to stroll along and pick up a selection. I really like the brown tones here in the bread and shelving. Isn't it funny how people react to a camera?

I like the idea of a tighter crop. This is another shot that begs for the scratch and sniff widget!

Those breads look delicious - and so does your photo. Nice angle and lighting for one shot!
