#272-365 Security

It means a lot of things to a lot of people and depending on who you talk to it is always seen from their personal viewpoint. I don't own or operate a boat so I think it important to stress how even us "LandLubbers" can appreciate the security afforded by the Coast Guard for those who do Brave the Brine.

Our Coast Guard is different to the U.S. Coast Guard in so far as it is a Totally Volunteer Organization (HERE is the home page for ours) but these guys are on duty all the time and have really earned the praise and thanks of thousands of small vessels that use Moreton Bay waters.

This shot shows the Patrol Boat a few weeks ago, heading out on patrol following a large cabin cruiser, which I assume accelerated too early because the CG Patrol boat continued on until it came adjacent to a channel marker out of shot to the right of picture, then proceeded at speed after the guy currently seen starting to accelerate in front of him, and brought the vessel to a halt. Not much of a story other than they are on duty when they are on the water. I didn't have my Sigma Lens so couldn't get much of a shot of the vessels far out in Deception Bay. Also there is something serene about this shot.

Just had a query as to why Deception Bay, didn't know (or care really - it just IS Deception Bay) so I went HERE to find out

Love the shot of the ocean. The blues are very beautiful. I also love the sun sparkling on the water.

Ooops - guess they got busted! Nice take on the theme.

It's the sun on the water that grabs the attention in this shot! Cool!

Deception Bay is one beautiful place (hope your picture isn't deceiving LOL). Great take on security - I tip my hat to your volunteers - what dedication!

Great picture for the theme. I like the sun sparkling on the water. Well done!

The sun is so bright on the water, one would need sunglasses, the wrap around kind, or have to do an awful lot of squinting. I thought the boat on the right was sinking. But apparently it was accelerating so fast the aft portion was digging into the water - would that be like a "wheelie" on a motorcycle? And those clouds! What an image! Great shot Ron. Love it.

Great shot! It's a "cops 'n robbers" shot on the water! (Did you yell, "He went thataway!" as the Coast Guard went by? Just curious.)
