#344-365 Up on Top

In about two months winter will descend upon us in all it's fury, and I thought you might be interested in seeing what early Autumn brings, you talk about colour in Northern Climes, "How's That!" (a cricket term meaning gotcha)

The tree is a Golden Penda and has just started blossoming for the second time this year, the Birds, Bees and Bats love it. I snapped these Rainbow Lorikeets just on dusk yesterday, one door up, as the Penda in front of our place hadn't bloomed. That is happening this morning cause I can hear the cacophony in the tree now. The raucous nature of these birds make me wonder how the get anything to eat, they chatter continuously, it is wonderful to hear really.

As for the photo I haven't done anything to it other that adjust the lighting using the enhance lighting tool, to compensate for the dusk tones that the flash couldn't dispel. the funny thing was I was trying to get the one on the left feeding but something must have made me shift the angle cause I hadn't seen the other two. To my mind the is really Obeying The Rule of Thirds, and I was thinking of taking out the power lines but Sally advised against it, and you know I always do as SHE says, except when ir comes to cashews. This shot benefits from enlargement in my opinion.

Now, while reading your commentary, I'm saying to myself: Ron's advice is to always take out the power lines and here he has these ugly things mucking up his lovely photo! Sally is not always right!

This photo looks like a painting (except for those ugly lines!) Lovely and bright and cheerful. I love the birds and the way they were captured for us to see. I know about the rule of thirds, but know I seldom achieve it. I do know what I like and don't like in a photo. I, mostly, like what I produce. But what do I know? I'm just a novice.

Did you overcome having to sleep with Teddy? The wine should have helped. :D

I am really glad that Sally has you trained well! At my house, the wife is always RIGHT! Sally was right - the lines add interest! Those birds look like a painting, so colorful and beautiful! Nice work, Ron (and Sally)!

Gorgeous!! Love how you've captured those beautiful birds against the sky! Lovely tree too. So now it's my turn to say that your folder in my bloglines showed 0. I clicked on your link in my blog and got here that way. Just thought you might want to know!

Ron,

WOW! This is your best shot yet. Everything about it works - the slight motion blur in the wings, excellent detail, stunning color. Things in threes are always visually pleasing and this arrangement of birds is no exception. I feel that the image would be less interesting without the power lines. These beautiful birds and tree were shot in an urban setting, not in a wildlife refuge and the inclusion of the lines gives your image a sense of place. Sally is brilliant!

That would look beautiful framed above your lawn chairs in your lounge... ;-)

You have outdone yourself!! This photograph is stunning. It absolutely needs enlarging because in the thumbnail the bird on the left blends right into the trees. The colors are absolutely outstanding. I like the lines, I'm glad you left them in. They really add some definition to the photograph. I say frame it!!

Ron, you did a wonderful job capturing the colors in this photo. I vote on removing the power lines, but don't want to get into trouble with Sally, so you'd better obey Mom and leave them in. Great job on this one.

I love the colors in the birds - they are truly amazing! I think the power lines add lots of interest here and don't detract from the shot at all. To follow the Rule of Thirds, as I understand it, the main focus points of the shot should fall at the intersections of that imaginary grid. If your shot does that, great. If NOT, then (to me) its a great example of breaking the rule of thirds! So either way, you win!!!

The birds and trees are so beautiful, I hardly noticed the power lines at all. But it's an uphill battle. Power lines are everywhere! Apparently even in the outback! ;-)

Beautiful photo and wonderful colors. Good thing that you do as Sally says and left the power lines, they adds excitement. ;)
Somehow life starts to feel pretty fair again, you will soon have winter and we are finally near spring. Hooray! :)

I saw that you tagged me earlier, sorry that I have not participated yet, but I will.

hard to believe that those birds are in the wild like that we pay big bucks for them around here!! NIce capture but yeah the power lines need to go!

I think the lines are fine too, maybe because of the way they echo the amazing birds. This is a truly wonderful shot.

Wonderful colors and I really love the lorikeets. I only see them in zoos here in the States but would give almost anything for a few weeks of birding in Australia!

Great shot!
