#041-365 Canine Companions
Sally and I just went up to Noosa, about two hours North of here to celebrate my sister's #% Birthday, while there we stayed at a motel that we had discovered about 5 or so years ago, called Regency on the River.
The Motel itself seems a bit unassuming but is clean and none too expensive, but the big bonus for us is the stretch of Parkland directly behind it which leads down to the river. With people strolling/jogging past and all types of craft on the river, it is Idyllic, oh and did I mention the Dogs.
We had just arrived and were waiting for my sister to arrive when Sally said "Where are you going?" I replied "To get some dog time in and take a few snaps!" Well boy did I hit the Mother Lode this time, I'd like you to meet Wolf, a dog of indeterminate breed but with strong German Shepherd appearance (Amongst others) but in nearly sixty years I have never met a Great Dane that was any taller than Wolf, but oh so gentle! When I started to pat him he leaned against me so hard I thought my femur would snap, but he almost purred with pleasure.
I got this shot of him shaking hands with his owner, quite early in the day, the other shots I thought complimented the activities that he had planned or maybe was remembering from the past. The wrestling match with the Ridge-back seen in three shots above went on for over a half hours and was full of plenty of snarling and barring of teeth, but they would stop if someone wanted a pat, or a smaller dog tried to get in on the act, then resume as if nothing had happened.
There were well over a dozen Dogs in the park and not one dog fight, they were all mates, even the cranky old Rotweiller with an inoperable growth and severe hip displacure, who everyone could out run and he would resort to stealing balls and not giving them back, He loved a big long pat too. The only concern I had was a Border Collie chasing sticks and a Wire Haired Terrier chasing a ball - Into the River. So I asked aren't there sharks? and the answer from both owners was - Only Bull Sharks (Really Dangerous) so I said what about the dogs, they both laughed and said you keep them out of the water - we can't.
I happened to comment in a group of nearly ten owners that I thought the council should be commended for providing such a Dog Friendly facility for the community, and was informed in a jovial manner "They Don't - The Best they do is turn a blind eye to it!" Well let me tell you from someone who had the audacity to turn up dogless at this Utopia, that council better get their act together and make it official, This is a perfect park for dog's and they seemed to have made it a non-aggresion zone - Shame People can't be that civilized.

What a perfect time, I could sit in a dog park all day and just enjoy all the different dogs and their play times! Your new found friend is a beauty and he looks like he made a bunch of play dates! :)
LOVE these canine companions and your beautiful photo montage! Your stories are always great and I'm still shaking my head about the bull shark!!!
I love the way you combined the photos, Ron. Sounds like a fun afternoon - petting dogs and talking to their owners.
Great montage and another great story to accompany it!!
A nice collage you've created to capture the fun of the day. I can just picture you having as much fun as the pups, cavorting around the park with all the dogs.
What a great montage and story to go and what a great find that motel.
A fine montage/collage indeed! Nice really that it's self policing rather than ruled by the town
Fun photos of all your new fur friends! Beautifully displayed!
